The Iowa Plains Local Workforce Development Area provides critical workforce services to a 42-county region in Western Iowa.
Iowa Plains is the successor to four local development areas (Western Iowa, Northwest Iowa, North Central Iowa, and Southwest Iowa) who voted in early 2023 to dissolve. Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) formally became responsible for providing workforce services to the 42-county region on July 1, 2023.
Guided by the Iowa State Workforce Development Board, Iowa Plains provides workforce services to Iowa job seekers through the region’s IowaWORKS job centers.
